The North West 200 is Northern Ireland’s biggest motorcycle road race and one of the largest sporting events on the Causeway Coast calendar - closed-road racing through Portrush, Portstewart, and Coleraine that draws huge crowds every year.
2026 Race (already run)
The 2026 event ran 4-9 May 2026: qualifying on 6-7 May, racing from the evening of 7 May, a rest day on 8 May, and the second and final race day on 9 May with six races. Nine races ran in total across Superbike, Superstock, Supersport, and Supertwin classes.
As of this fact-check (August 2026), 2027 dates haven’t been announced yet. Check the official North West 200 site closer to the time - this page should be updated with confirmed dates rather than left showing 2026 information once 2027 dates are known.
What to Expect
The race runs on closed public roads through the north coast towns, and road closures affect travel through the area significantly during race week - genuinely worth planning around if you’re visiting for other reasons during that period, not just for spectators.
